RV Guide
Travelling with an RV in the Tetons can be difficult at times. Parking lots are often small and become crowded early in the day. For this reason I recommend visiting the Colter Bay area, even if you are not staying in their expansive campground.
Here you will find a National Park visitors Center and permit desk, a grocery store and gift shop, laundromat, restaurant, and most importantly, ample parking even for large RVs. Even on the busiest of summer days, Colter Bay will always have parking available. This can be a good place to drop the RV for the day and explore within the park, or start a hike right from the parking lot.
There are a variety of trails that leave from Colter Bay that range from 1/2 mile loops to 8 Mile out and backs. Trails have minimal elevation and follow along the shore of Jackson Lake and can go to several large ponds nearby. In addition, their large rocky beach with great views of the Tetons is a popular places to swim.
If you are headed into Jackson with your RV, there are several parking options. The town has a free parking lot at the Welcome Center on the north end of town just off Gill St. There is a parking available for large RVs. It is a short walk from the town square and is serviced by the free city bus network so you can access the rest of town. Street parking with a larger vehicle is possible once you get away from the town square, but don’t depend on it.
